Modern Salvador Dalí Surrealist Signed and Numbered Original Work on Paper
*Le rêve onirique*, a colour lithograph created by Salvador Dalí in 1974.
The sheet belongs to a series of illustrations dedicated to *The Thousand and One Nights*, a theme the artist had begun working on as early as the 1960s.
The work bears the embossed stamp of the Société d’Éditions d’Art Les Heures Claires, Paris, in the lower left-hand corner.
It is personally signed by the artist in pencil and numbered 34/195 in the lower margin.
This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important French private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame in natural wood, in almost perfect condition.
Our company has been present on this platform for many years, with more than 100 sales made and just as many excellent reviews received that you can under our Furniture account.
The artwork is protected by glass
Salvador Dalí is one of the most famous and recognisable figures in 20th-century art.
A painter, engraver, draughtsman, sculptor, set designer and creator of images destined to enter the collective imagination, Dalí is considered one of the absolute icons of Surrealism.
The work is a classic example of Dalí’s mature Surrealism, where the lithographic technique is used to explore the subconscious through bizarre and dreamlike images.
At the centre of the composition dominates the figure of a dark-clad horseman on a galloping horse, set against a fantastical landscape characterised by a vast expanse of deep red.
Recurring elements of Dalí’s symbolism are evident: organic forms that seem to be liquefying, stylised human figures in the lower left, and a blood-red sun (or globe) dominating the upper part, evoking an apocalyptic or magical atmosphere.
In this beautiful work, Salvador Dalí makes full use of the potential of lithography, alternating fine, almost scratched lines with areas of vibrant colour and ‘splashes’ of ink.
This beautiful work by Salvador Dalí makes full use of the potential of lithography, alternating between fine, almost scratched lines and areas of vibrant colour and splashes of ink (tachisme).
The contrast between the deep black of the figures and the bright red creates a dramatic dynamism, typical of his theatrical and eccentric style.
The work reflects the artist’s method of rationalising the ‘delirium’ of the unconscious, transforming chaotic visions into a structured composition that challenges the viewer’s perception. This piece has an attribution mark,
