Mounts, Circa 1900
Elegant antique French porcelain centerpiece or compote in the Sèvres taste,
dating to the Belle Époque period, circa 1890–1910. The bowl features a vivid
turquoise bleu céleste ground with finely hand-painted floral reserves framed by
delicate gilt scrollwork. Decorative gilt bronze or brass mounts include scrolling
side handles, rope-twist rim trim, and a classical square pedestal base.
The porcelain interior is finished in glossy white, contrasting beautifully with the
rich turquoise exterior. The bowl is mounted with its original decorative central rod
and retains its original metal fittings and patinated finish.
A refined decorative accent for a console, dining table, vitrine, or mantel, this piece embodies the romantic revival styles popular in late 19th-century France.
Marked on the underside with a pseudo-Sèvres style red interlaced mark.
