The … Read more An striking and elegantly proportioned Chinese porcelain quadrangular (four-sided) vase, featuring a vibrant, high-gloss sky blue or turquoise-blue ground. The vase is skillfully molded with a square, flared neck that transitions into a sharply faceted, broad shoulder and an elegant, tapering body. Each of the four principal faces is adorned with a meticulously hand-painted rectangular reserve panel executed in the vibrant, polychrome famille verte palette. These panels depict highly detailed, traditional Chinese motifs, including dynamic mountain and river landscapes (shan shui), a striking phoenix amidst flora, and classic flora-and-fauna vignettes featuring birds, insects, and blossoming peonies. The flared neck is further accented by smaller, arch-shaped decorative reserves. The recessed white-glazed base bears a six-character apocryphal reign mark in underglaze blue, reading "Da Qing Kangxi Nian Zhi" (Great Qing Kangxi Period Made), framed by an unglazed foot rim showing the characteristic coloration of aged porcelain.
