A unique music or display cabinet in walnut with an easel stand and beveled glass door, circa 1910s. A beautifully shaped cabinet with a rectilinear form in Jugendstil manner featuring an interior with two wood shelves behind a five-panel beveled glass door with ornate, scrolling brass fittings, flanked by lower wing shelves supported by shapely spandrels. On top is a retractable easel style stand and a galleried back edge perfect for displaying an artful book or music sheets. A lower tier has sculpted verticals for divided storage great for vinyl records or books. It is detailed throughout with delicate scrolling and geometric carvings, paneled millwork sides and raised on straight, splayed legs. The key is not original and does not work the lock, instead acts as a pull.
A wonderful piece blending the lightness of art nouveau details with the balance of a symmetrical, angular form. It may be used throughout the home in a variety of ways such as for displaying special books, vinyl records, precious items or glassware.
