Each square utilizes a "snowball" block technique, where the corners are replaced to transform the inner fabric into an elongated octagon. The columns are vertically coordinated, featuring a dark brown/red column, a cream/navy blue center column, and a dark patterned right column. The textiles feature traditional, small-scale calico and heart prints, geometric in houndstooth and dotted squares and florals. For the outer. border, a wide, dark burgundy border frames the piece, printed with a delicate geometric chain link motif. The underside is chocolate brown with cream dots. This creation could be used as a wall-hanging, a trivet or as an applique' in apparel.

The story: this quilted piece was crafted by my late mother, a self taught artist. As a young girl back in the 70's I recall her "craft room", her place of creation, the floor littered with threads and the smell of turpentine and oil paints wafting from the room. Some of her other creations of fine art and holiday decor are listed within my shop. I hope you'll take a look!
