Offering a particularly handsome and tall (about 25”) table lamp, weighing in at (about) a substantial 15 pounds. It measures about 7 ¾ across at the base. With such weight and precision in the casting, could it be bronze? Most likely it's spelter, also known as "white metal."
It’s clearly the work of one of America’s highest quality lighting manufacturers during the “magic” period of about a hundred or more years ago.
Beautiful original patina in excellent condition. Rewired and working fine. Excellent condition all around... with only very slight variations (compromises) to the patina.
The floral decoration and the shape of the "arms" -- as organic, plant-inspired tendrils, speaks of the Art Nouveau period when such design elements were in vogue, following the example of the great French designers like Gallé, Muller, and Lalique.
The shade probably didn't come originally with this lamp base, but it's suited quite well in terms of proportions and, more particularly, patina. The base, rather than being in the warm range of finishes like bronze or brass might deliver, has a more steely, gray look, which works perfectly with the cool green color of the shade. The shade is cased white on the inside and in excellent condition (no bottom rim chips, no perceptible scratches to its surface). There are a couple of small air bubbles that were trapped in the glass during its creation, nothing out of the ordinary. The shade is about 14 3/8 inches across, a substantial size and as mentioned appropriately large for the base. Frankly, this lamp, given the design simplicity of the shade, offers a much cleaner and attractive look than lamps with slag or leaded glass offer. Look around and you'll quickly see what I'm suggesting.
Here's a table lamp which will deliver some serious "bling" to your home!
