This substantial piece beautifully exemplifies traditional Japanese relief-molded pottery (Yōkoku), offering an elegant balance of deep color contrast, heavy structural weight, and organic form.

The exterior body is finished in a brilliant, deep cobalt blue glaze accented with tight, horizontal ribbing that catches the light beautifully. Adorning the exterior are slightly raised, three-dimensional embossed turnip leaves surrounding a softly shaded white-and-blush turnip bulb. The crisp white porcelain interior provides a clean contrast, featuring a beautifully detailed, hand-painted blue-and-white turnip (kabu) illustration at its center.
