A classic Martha Washington lolling chair by Hickory Chair, from their esteemed James River Collection — one of the longest continuously produced models in American furniture, made in Hickory, North Carolina since 1941. This is an authentic custom-order piece with the original factory construction ticket still affixed under the seat.
The chair features a solid mahogany frame in medium mahogany finish (“Amb”), with fluted Chippendale legs, hallmark receding arm posts, and the characteristic shaped serpentine crest rail that defines the form. The original upholstery is a hand-stitched crewel embroidery on linen ground — a quality textile in its own right, with a soft palette of botanicals on a cream field that suits both traditional and transitional interiors.
