A striking and exceptionally sculptural 19th century French bronze d’or cherub figure, originally created as an architectural decorative element or mount, now presented as a dramatic standalone object of French architectural salvage.
Cast in solid bronze with rich original doré surface and natural verdigris oxidation throughout, this monumental winged cherub embodies the theatrical ornamentation and romantic grandeur associated with the French Belle Époque period. Deeply modeled drapery, expressive facial detail, and an ornate classical breastplate centered by a stylized Green Man or foliate mascaron motif lend the piece an unmistakably opulent late 19th century character. The outstretched wings, raised arms, and flowing acanthus-form base give the figure remarkable movement and sculptural presence from every angle.
Unlike the far more common gilt composition or spelter examples seen on the market, this piece is genuinely heavy cast bronze with visible sectional construction and period fastening screws throughout. The piece is being offered strictly as decorative architectural salvage.
An extraordinary object for layered European interiors, maximalist spaces, old-world libraries, collector homes, or high-style designer installations. Particularly compelling displayed atop a pedestal, console, or incorporated into a custom decorative installation. The raised-arm form also lends itself beautifully to creative decorative use — the figure could be repurposed as a stunning centerpiece supporting an arrangement of florals, or potentially hold a custom tray, shallow bowl, or dish for fruit, seasonal décor, or dramatic entertaining displays. Could possibly also be repurposed as a light fixture or wall sconce.
Top and bottom center holes measure approx. 2" diameter. Leg holes are approx. 2.75 - 3" diameter.

Presents exceptionally well with strong sculptural presence and authentic antique character consistent with architectural salvage of this age and type. The figure displays beautifully as a freestanding sculptural object on a flat surface and may also be wall-mounted or incorporated into a custom installation. Due to the substantial weight and scale of the piece, additional support or professional mounting is recommended depending on intended use. Sold as is, exactly as pictured. less
