"Dimanche à La Plage" (Sunday at the Beach) is a limited edition lithograph, hand signed and dated 1977 by the artist. Numbered 52/75. The print depicts three figures on a beach with a colorful striped umbrella, beach ball, and French flag, rendered in bold geometric forms and vibrant color blocks of yellow, orange, red, and blue. Signed and dated lower right, numbered lower left. Deckled edges on both sides.
René Couturier (French, b. 1933, Dieppe, Normandy) built his reputation as a colorist through modernist compositions that transform everyday scenes into dynamic studies of form and hue. His work captures the joy and energy of French coastal life through simplified shapes and a confident palette that prioritizes visual impact over realistic detail.
