Large-scale and highly dimensional Federal-style convex wall mirror featuring a boldly carved spread-wing eagle crest above a deeply molded giltwood frame with applied ball decoration, wheat sheaf ornament, and carved shell cartouche base. Exceptionally sculptural and dramatic in person, with strong three-dimensional carving and rich warm antique gold finish throughout.
The mirror is substantial at 48 inches in height and presents beautifully over a console, mantel, or entry chest. The convex mirror plate creates wonderful reflected light and architectural presence. Inspired by early American and English Regency girandole mirrors of the early 19th century, this example is likely a quality mid-20th-century reproduction with excellent decorative impact.
A striking focal point equally suited to traditional, Ralph Lauren, Palm Beach, English library, or neoclassical interiors.
