Testament to Rosenthal’s mid-century craftsmanship and a collectible of lasting refinement.
Elegant Rosenthal porcelain Borzoi figurine designed by renowned sculptor Max Valentin, model 200/1, featuring the rare 1947 “Jubiläum” Kunstabteilung Selb mark. This refined reclining Russian Wolfhound form reflects the flowing sculptural lines associated with early Jugendstil and Art Deco animal modeling for Rosenthal’s premier art porcelain division.
Hand-painted (“Handgemalt”) with sophisticated black and gray shading over a luminous white glaze, the figure captures the graceful anatomy and aristocratic posture of the Borzoi breed. The underside retains the incised “M. Valentin” signature and model designation, confirming attribution to one of Rosenthal’s important early sculptors.
An exceptional collector example combining sculptural elegance, postwar Rosenthal history, and outstanding preservation.
