Imperial Crown China Austria is a brand of high-quality, early 20th-century porcelain (c. 1883–1914) decorated by Bawo & Dotter in Bohemia (now Czech Republic) and imported by their NY office. Known for elegant hand-applied floral motifs—such as roses and violets—with gold trim, these pieces are frequently found in Art Nouveau styles, including cabinet plates and tea sets.
This unusual item is a holder for a condensed milk can. Rather than place an unattractive can on the table, thoughtful hostesses hid the can in these delicate covers. The hole allowed for any condensation to drain out.
The plate is 6" in diameter. The container is 3.5" in diameter. The lid is 3 7/8" in diameter. The depth is 3.5".
There is a very tiny chip along the rim of the bottom interior hole. It's visible in the photos.
