Presented for your consideration is a magnificent example of 19th-century English Art Glass, attributed to the renowned firm of Stevens & Williams of Stourbridge, England. This pedestal vase is crafted from opaque custard glass with a high uranium content, resulting in a vibrant, uniform neon-green glow under both 395nm and 365nm UV light (see pictures of the two types of glow produced).
The vase features a classic Aesthetic Movement influence with a hand-applied amber glass handle designed in a "bamboo" or "thorn" motif. Most notably, the body is adorned with a pair of highly detailed, hand-applied red glass cherries hanging from a textured amber leaf and branch. The piece is supported by three elegant tripod feet in matching amber glass. The rim is finished with an asymmetrical, "sheared" or "slanted" mouth, typical of the fine hand-blown craftsmanship of the period.
