An exquisite antique German Volkstedt porcelain figure from the late 19th century, circa 1890, depicting the renowned American actress Mary … Read more An exquisite antique German Volkstedt porcelain figure from the late 19th century, circa 1890, depicting the renowned American actress Mary Anderson in her acclaimed role as Pauline Deschapelles from Edward Bulwer-Lytton's play, “The Lady of Lyons.” This finely hand-painted figurine captures Anderson in a flowing white gown adorned with delicate pink floral patterns and intricate gold and red trim, complemented by a dramatic dark blue shawl draped over her arm. The figure stands on a stepped, marbleized base. The name "MARY ANDERSON" is clearly incised on the front of the base, identifying the celebrated subject. A distinctive blue maker's mark, consistent with Volkstedt production, is present on the underside of the base, confirming its origin.
