Produced by Temple-Stuart Furniture of Temple, New Hampshire, these chairs reinterpret classic American country and Colonial Revival forms through a cheerful mid-20th century lens.
Crafted primarily of solid rock maple, the chairs feature shaped crest rails decorated with delicate floral stencil work and fine gold pinstriping, giving the set an appealing folk-art quality without feeling overly rustic. Turned legs and stretchers reinforce the Early American inspiration, while the rich seat color adds warmth and contrast against the painted frames.
Dating to the 1950s–1960s, these were well-made everyday American chairs produced during the height of the Colonial Revival and Early American decorating movement. The original Temple-Stuart mark remains beneath one chair.
