19th-century American Empire flame mahogany cabinet featuring a white marble top.
Style and Period: This piece is designed in the American Empire style, popular in the 1840s, often characterized by heavy scrolled supports and the use of mahogany veneers.
Key Features: It includes a top ogee-molded drawer above a cabinet door, with the entire structure supported by distinctive scrolled feet. Function: Similar cabinets were sometimes referred to as "petticoat tables" or "mixing tables" used for serving drinks in grand homes.
