An exceptional G Plan Fresco floating desk designed by Victor Bramwell Wilkins for G Plan, England, circa 1960s.
This highly recognizable model exemplifies the refined restraint of British mid-century modern design, pairing sculptural detailing with practical functionality. Executed in richly figured teak, the desk features G Plan’s signature elongated integrated pulls, softly rounded case edges, and an elegant floating top suspended above twin drawer pedestals.
The composition achieves a remarkable visual lightness while maintaining substantial storage and usability. Finished on all sides, the piece may be floated within a room as a statement centerpiece.
Notable details include:
Original G Plan label
Warm teak grain with good color consistency (back edge exception)
Four smoothly operating drawers
Sculpted solid teak drawer pulls
Tapered legs and recessed support structure
Versatile use as a writing desk, vanity, or dressing table
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition with minor age-appropriate wear including light surface marks consistent with careful use. Break in consistent wood tone along back edge (lighter). Structurally sound and beautifully preserved.
A sophisticated and increasingly collectible example of the iconic Fresco line by V.B. Wilkins.
