Lovely Japanese painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) depicts Blossoming Sakura and Mejiro (Japanese White-Eye). Signed and sealed by artist. Gouache, watercolor and ink on n gold-leaf style foil plates over paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered black wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions showing some age patina. Paper on back. Japan, Showa Era, circa 1970s. Nearly Excellent to Very Good condition - no damage to the painting, minor age wear overall, some staining on silk border, a small repair on paper back, strong hinges, clean, sturdy.
