Iconic “Big Mama” (UP5_6) lounge chair with matching ottoman, designed by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia. Originally conceived in 1969 as part of the groundbreaking UP Series, this sculptural piece is one of the most recognizable works of Italian Radical Design.
One of the more visually sought-after executions of the UP5_6 series. This example features a bold red and white striped upholstery, amplifying its already dramatic, anthropomorphic form. The chair’s soft, enveloping silhouette contrasts with its powerful conceptual roots often interpreted as a commentary on femininity and constraint making it both a functional lounge chair and a museum-worthy design object.
The underside marking confirms its authenticity, including the UP series designation and B&B Italia branding.
