The table, constructed of … Read more Vintage Shibui / Wabi Sabi Style round wooden pedestal dining / center table by Nori Morimoto. The table, constructed of solid maple, is custom made and one of a kind. It features a one inch thick top over a sweeping, graceful solid wood textured staved base. The top shows a wooden inlay repair (see photos). Additionally, the top, which has been newly refinished, is not level along the repair (see photos).

Nori Morimoto (b. 1931, Japanese/ American) began his design career in Tokyo during the 1950s. Subsequent to immigrating to the United States, he was an apprentice to Genichiro Onokuma and began work as an artist and designer in New York. He was a contemporary of George Nakashima and collaborated on projects with Isamu Noguchi. He created both wall mounted art and sculpture shown in New York galleries. He would later establish a New England atelier where he would design and produce furniture. During the 1990s, he was involved in the interior design and lighting of Nobu Restaurant in NYC. See less
