The piece is modeled after early 19th-century German Biedermeier and French Empire styles, characterized by clean lines, classical architectural forms, and prominent wood grain patterns.
It includes a fall-front writing desk (abattant) that opens to reveal smaller interior drawers and compartments.

This distinctive wood veneer secretary is crowned with a classic "Schinkel gable" or pediment top, a hallmark of North German and Austrian Biedermeier designs.
The slanted door is hinged to pull down and act as a writing surface. Inside are three arched cubbies and four shallow drawers. Three full-length lower drawers include brass ring pull hardware and machine-cut dovetail joinery. There is a hidden drawer just below the frieze that does not include any hardware. This unique secretary has a lockable slanted door with key.
