It dates from … Read more An English Edwardian period music bench referred to as a "duet bench" because of its double seat. It dates from the beginning of the 20th century and is of the highest quality. It is made of mahogany and has elaborate satinwood inlay throughout. It retains its original finish which has the warm glow of well cared for furniture. The upholstery is recent but not new but is usable. The seat doubles as a lid to a compartment originally intended for sheet music but just as useful for gloves, scarves, etc. It is overall in very good structural condition with very minor wear. A lovely and useful piece which would be equally at home in the music room, an entryway, or bedroom. It was found in West Sussex. See less
