Bring old-world charm to your holiday display with this exceptional, all-original vintage Italian Nativity Scene. Dating back to the 1960s–1970s, this large-scale set features an impressive rustic crèche hand-constructed with thick, deeply textured natural cork bark and genuine dried forest moss over a wooden framework.
The stable houses a complete, beautifully hand-painted 11-piece collection of traditional holiday figures crafted from heavy, durable Italian composition resin/polymer. The set includes Baby Jesus in the manger, Mary, Joseph, the Three Wise Men, angel, and four animals. The underside of the figures features hollow green bases proudly stamped with original mold tracking markers ("332 / 400") and "ITALY", while the raw wood base of the stable features the authentic hand-stamped "MADE IN ITALY" provenance.
Perfect as a festive mantel centerpiece or a nostalgic family heirloom, this sprawling 19.5-inch showcase piece boasts vibrant colors and a substantial, rustic presence rarely seen in standard tabletop holiday decor.
Condition Notes
Good vintage condition. The 11 hand-painted figures retain rich, vibrant colors with minimal paint loss. Due to natural age, a couple of the figurines became loose from their bases and have been re-secured using industrial-strength E6000 adhesive to ensure permanent stability. The rustic stable is structurally sound; the underside of the raw wood base exhibits minor natural age-related drying, light splits, and superficial wear consistent with age, which does not affect the display or structural integrity of the cork facade. Moss shows minor, expected shedding appropriate for an authentic vintage piece.
The center cut out designed to insert a Christmas lightbulb for night time viewing.
