This work of art dates back to late 19th / early 20th century, best of the best quality hand painting on porcelain. Gorgeous gilt border and floral designs on a very unusual and interesting blue and white base, done in a manner of clouds in the sky. Center medallion features a stunning scene on the banks of the river Euenos, where Nessus the centaur is attempting the abduction of (a woman / girl) Deianira, a wife of Heracles / Hercules. Painting is signed in lower left. Back of the plate is marked with a blue period Beehive mark and additional black writing "The Abduction of Deianira. Condition is very good, near mint (please see photos). Size is impressive 9.5" x 9.5" diameter wide. This is a great addition to any quality collection! See less
