Originates from northern China, from the early 20th century, where local pine was worked using mortise-and-tenon joinery without nails, with solid tops and square-section legs.In the rural houses of northern China, low tables served multiple functions: an auxiliary surface beside the kang, an informal dining table or a domestic working surface. Their reduced height matched the custom of living close to the floor.Built in solid pine using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, without nails. The top, formed by longitudinal planks joined edge to edge, rests on four square-section legs with lower stretchers reinforcing the structure. The carpentry follows the language of provincial furniture.The patina retains the warm tone of aged pine, with visible grain and a matte sheen. The top shows dark marks left by objects resting over time, stains and traces of prolonged domestic use. The structure remains solid.It fits naturally in wabi-sabi, contemporary rustic or minimalist interiors. It works as a low living-room table, a bench-sideboard or a base for an object composition.
