Now discontinued, the aptly named "Village Church" pattern depicts a quaint and beautiful village scene featuring sheep and a cottage in the foreground with a village scene (and church) in the background. This blue and white transferware pattern is from the early 1800s.

Often used a centerpiece for the table, a roast would be carved on the inset drainer so the juices drain through the holes onto the platter underneath.

It is rare to find drainers intact, as you can imagine, they became a greasy and slippery, often broken in the washing up process! Very collectible today, some use them as trivets, hang them as a part of a gallery wall, or even use them as inserts into custom-made tables. To have a matching pair is a rare treasure. Both would look fabulous on a wall, as a pair of end tables, or used as intended in the dining room!

Neither piece bares a maker's backstamp, but the engraving and printing is of high quality.

In very good condition with no cracks or significant damage, though both pieces are a bit wobbly (original imperfection in the firing or forming process). See less
