Moreau’s ‘Confidence’. … Read more This striking Art Deco sculpture of two Grecian maidens is an early 20th century replica of L. F. Moreau’s ‘Confidence’. The sculpture is made of patinated spelter and affixed to the original painted wood base. The front scroll may read ‘L’Aveu’. This beautiful piece is signed by the sculptor, stamped ‘E. D.’ on the base. Provenance: Originally purchased by my great-grandmother in the 1920’s or 1930’s, this piece has been in my family for nearly 100 years. Overall the statue is in stunning, vintage condition. Some wear of the bronze coloring and loss of some black paint on the wood base, commensurate with age and use. A small piece of the maiden’s head scarf is chipped. A gorgeous addition to any room. Dimensions are 17.5”h x 11.5”w x 7”d. Weight is just over 14lbs See less
