This handsome pair of teak armchairs, attributed to Erik Kirkegaard for Høng Stolefabrik, captures the warm, organic spirit of 1950s Danish Modern design. Each chair features a sculptural, low-slung teak frame with gracefully curved armrests that flow seamlessly into the back and legs, creating a light yet substantial silhouette. The generously proportioned seats and backs are upholstered in their original geometric fabric with bold southwest-inspired motifs in warm earth tones of orange, yellow, blue, and cream — a striking and playful contrast to the rich teak wood.
Erik Kirkegaard was a talented Danish designer active in the mid-20th century, known for producing well-crafted, ergonomic seating for manufacturers like Høng Stolefabrik. His work emphasized clean lines, quality materials, and a comfortable, inviting aesthetic that remains highly collectible today.
These versatile armchairs work beautifully as accent seating in a living room, reading nook, or lounge area. Their compact scale and sculptural presence make them ideal for both classic Danish Modern and eclectic mid-century interiors.
A rare and characterful pair of 1950s Danish teak armchairs attributed to Erik Kirkegaard for Høng Stolefabrik — where bold original fabric meets timeless teak craftsmanship.
