Pair of Custom 1930s Hollywood Regency Wood Gesso Lamps by Harry Burger.
This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Los Angeles design history. These lamps feature exceptional handwritten provenance on the base, documenting their creation in 1938-1939 by renowned custom furniture maker Harry Burger at his workshop on 837 N. La Cienega Blvd.
Commissioned by Harriet Shellenberger, a prominent Sunset Strip interior decorator known for her collaborations with legendary architect Paul R. Williams, these lamps were masterfully “cut down” and repurposed from a pair of antique floor lamps to create these bespoke table-top masterpieces.
While the stain glass shades are not original , they were carefully selected to complement the lamps’ Neoclassical proportions.
