Carefully carved dark wood frames: cabriole legs ending in claw feet supporting a ball, an emblematic motif of the Georgian ornamental repertoire, surmounted by knees adorned with acanthus leaves in high relief. The seat rail is carved with scrolling foliage and floral motifs in low relief. The high, wing-shaped backrest is a characteristic feature of English wingback armchairs from the second half of the 18th century. The original sage green velvet is heavily worn, with frayed and torn areas, particularly on the armrests: complete reupholstering is recommended (available upon request from our workshops). The wooden frames are in very good condition, with no reported repairs. Sold as a pair.
