A visibly drunken silenus, crowned with a wreath of vines, sitting on a donkey and supported by a young bacchante walking beside him so that he cannot fall off; in front of the donkey, which is straining to move forward, lies a naked putto on the ground amidst scattered vines, offering the animal grapes to eat. The group stands on an oval natural plinth with sculpted leaves and grapes.

designed by ferdinand elias meyer (1723 - 1785) called 'the elder', was a german sculptor and porcelain modeler in the rococo period. He created numerous models for the meissen porcelain manufactory and worked closely with kändler there, but made a name for himself above all as a master model in the royal porcelain manufactory in berlin. The model was created around 1760.
