Mother is 6" tall with a hand painted face and yellow floss hair. Daughter is 4 1/2" tall and has a hand painted face and yellow floss hair. He wears a green felt hat with green embroidery and white feather. A red felt scarf is around his neck. He has on a white cotton shirt, gold cotton pants with green felt accents, brown embroidered felt belt and green felt straps. Socks are white floss with green floss embroidery and he wears black metal shoes. Daughter is approximately 4" tall and quite adorable. She has a hand painted face, yellow floss hair with felt ribbons and a light green felt hat.
This is a beautiful family grouping with lots of personality. They all look like they are ready for a festival or celebration. There is wonderfully detail embroidery on this family grouping.The German BAPS dolls were created by Frau Edith Von Arps and Hilde Bartel from the 1940's to the 1960's. Most represent fairy tale characters but some were created as souvenirs. These hand crafted dolls were made of fabric and the facial features were carefully hand painted. The dolls armature body was made of wires and covered with felt. These dolls can be posed and were made to stand by using weighted metal for their feet. You really need to see these dolls in person to appreciate their beauty, whimsy and great craftsmanship. See less
