This Palm Beach chic beauty was artfully handcrafted from terraglia bianca, the Italian version of creamware also known as creta all'uso inglese (earthenware in the English manner). Creamware is made from white clays combined with an amount of calcined flint. This body is the same as that used for salt-glazed stoneware, but it is fired to a lower temperature and glazed with lead to form a cream-colored earthenware. The white clays ensured a fine body and the addition of flint improves its resistance to thermal shock during firing, while flint added to the glaze helps prevent crazing. The demilune shell-shaped wall pocket, in the manner of Mario Bellini, is nicely-sized and will play well in or out of doors. It will inspire and look fabulous in the spring, summer and fall overflowing with live (or faux) container flowers or greens such as petunias, fuchsias, English ivy, lobelias, snapdragon and so much more! Note, there is no drainage port. It weighs 2 lbs. 9 oz. and measures as follows:

Interior: width from top 12¼”; width from bottom 7”; 5½” x 4¾” H/D

In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear. There are two openings on the back for immediate placement. There used to a red ink makers mark on the back that wore off but it was handcrafted in Italy. What remains is a paper label with a model number on the interior.

This beauty will complement most any design sensibility! The perfect accent for a collector of decorative shell-shaped home accents or the perfect gift for someone who is.
