This type of furniture, designed for schools, waiting rooms, and institutions during the french reconstruction era, combines robust construction with meticulous attention to detail. The oak is thick, the grain highly graphic, and the patina dark and even, built up over decades of communal use. They are in their original condition, untouched.

the gently curved, hollowed armrests are the centerpiece: their sculpted profile visually lightens an otherwise very substantial structure. The plank backrest with its rounded upper edge and the sled legs connected by a low stretcher complete a set designed to last.
