This piece called "Interlude", is a bold and sophisticated large-scale textile composition that merges painting, collage, and architectural abstraction into a dynamic visual statement. Executed on hand-painted silk using ink and colorfast dyes, its surface absorbs and reflects light with subtle shifts throughout the day. The artist has placed several layers of tinted transparent silk organza cut-outs over a hand-painted silk twill background to create a complex interplay of opacity, transparency, and depth.
The work strongly reflects the visual language of the 1980s Postmodern era with clear reverence to Bauhaus Graphics and Russian Constructivism in its geometric forms, intersecting planes, and sense of premeditated balance. At the same time, the cut and layered textile elements evoke Henri Matisse’s late cut-outs period, particularly in the use of biomorphic forms and playful layering.
Signed by Artist on bottom right corner.
