These are joined with two stiles, chamfered on their four corners. The trestles are connected by two stretchers which insert through the stiles and lock with wooden keys to create a stable base. The base is finished in green paint, worn through to bare wood in places. The stretchers prevent a chair being fully tucked under the table when not in use, but they should not prevent use as a dining table. If one plans to sit at the table benches may be the best seating choice, especially if they can be 20” high. This is because the tabletop is high, at 32”, so we have described the piece as a “work” table, to be used standing up rather than sitting. The degree of distress on the 1.25” thick top indicates that it has been used in that way. The base flat-packs for ease in transport and installation. See less
