Graceful noble figures in layered kimono are shown within and around a palace setting, with sudare (bamboo blinds), garden landscape, and flowing scenery creating a refined and poetic atmosphere. The use of a gold-toned background enhances the sense of depth and luxury, making it a striking decorative piece. The composition captures the quiet elegance and storytelling typical of classical Japanese art. Gouache, watercolor and ink on paper. Silk brocade border, lacquered black wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners. Paper on back. Japan, Showa Era, circa 1960-1970s. Very Good condition - minor age wear overall, some staining at the lower sides of the panels, few touch-ups, a small repair on back, strong hinges, clean, sturdy.
