The figure of the burled … Read more This is a British Art Deco Cocktail Bar Cabinet attributed to Harry and Lou Epstein. The figure of the burled walnut wood is exquisite and is one of the main types of wood used by the Epsteins. The hardware is also a focal point and is comprised of carved ivorine and bakelite. Also used in many of their designs from this period. The doors open to reveal a mirrored interior with storage for bottles glasses and bar utensils. It has a curvilinear mahogany base which helps create the illusion that the cabinet is floating. The Epstein Company originated in London in 1890 with Morris Epstein at the helm who was the father of Harry and Lou. They are most known most for their Art Deco furniture design from the 1930s through the 1950s. This piece as well as most of their Art Deco era pieces is unsigned. See less
