A fine antique Regency rosewood open bookcase of elegant proportions, decorated with intricate brass inlay throughout and standing on turned and carved supports. The quality of the rosewood is excellent with rich colour and striking figuring, complemented by well-executed inlaid detail to the frieze and uprights.
The piece features open shelving above with a central mirrored back and a lower section incorporating drawers and open storage, making it both practical and decorative. The drawers are finely made and the overall construction reflects a quality piece of cabinet making from the Regency period.
Pieces such as this were designed for use in a drawing room or library and were used to display books, glassware or decorative objects while also providing useful storage below. The open form gives it a lighter feel than more traditional enclosed cabinets, making it particularly appealing in both classic and modern interiors.
A very unusual and attractive Regency piece that stands out for both its design and versatility.
