The Lane Furniture stamp appears inside the drawer and on the underside. Style number 1024-05 places it precisely within the Perception collection, Lane's most Scandinavian-influenced and design-forward furniture line of the 1960s.

The Perception collection was conceived as a direct response to the Danish modern movement transforming American interiors in the early 1960s. Lane's own advertising called it "sculpture in wood" — and this two-tier end table delivers that quality completely. The richly figured walnut top with softly rounded corners, the iconic sculptural oval drawer pull, the open lower display shelf, and the clean tapered legs all present the Perception vocabulary at its most resolved and most beautiful.

The oval pull is the design signature of the line — a piece of shaped solid walnut rising from the drawer face in a continuous organic curve. It is one of the most beautiful drawer handles in American MCM furniture. The walnut throughout is warm and well-figured. The Perception line ran from 1961 to 1967 and is actively collected alongside Lane's Acclaim and Staccato lines.

A beautiful, fully labeled piece of American mid-century design. Works equally well as an end table, nightstand, or lamp table in any MCM or contemporary interior.
