Here we have a fabulous large-scale work of art titled "Metamorphosis" in which the artist has hand-painted silk to take advantage of the medium’s fluid absorbency, allowing ink and dyes to bloom, feather, and dissolve into one another with an almost organic grace. The title suggests transformation, and the piece appears to embody that idea through shifting forms that don't appear to ever fully settle or be defined, thus evolving across the fabric like humanity in a state of continual becoming.
In this piece, one can see the echoes of Abstract Expressionism in it's spontaneous gestures and movement of the ink on the medium and because it is painted on silk, it may also be influenced by East Asian brush painting and textile arts where fluidity and the serenity of negative space are key aspects.
Signed by Artist on bottom right corner.
