Composed of felted cloth, this … Read more A soft painting tapestry titled "Torso In Tension" by Argentinian-Israeli artist Calman Shemi (born 1939). Composed of felted cloth, this abstract work features sketch-like designs of layered shapes in purple, white, black, red, and blue. The tapestry is imprinted "Calman Shemi" to the lower left corner and is signed, numbered 5/9, and titled to the verso. A fabric sleeve is attached to the verso of the tapestry for hanging.

Sculpture and painter Calman Shemi was born in Mendoza, Argentina, and studied under German-Israeli sculptor Rudi Lehmann. Shemi's artworks have been on display in over seventy solo exhibitions nationally and internationally in the last two decades. See less
