Offered is a mid 20th Century black iron metal mass-produced sculpture known as "Nearness" created by Winckler Copenhagen in Denmark in the 1960s. It depicts an abstract man and woman standing face to face within inches of one another.
Known simply as Winckler, these small iron statues depicting "Joy", or "Mother and Child", or a couple embracing were sold at Scandinavian furniture stores in the mid to late 1960s in Europe and the United States.The statues were typically crafted from a single piece of wrought iron with a matte black finish and bore stickers adhered on the bottom that said "Winckler - W - Made in Denmark".
It measures 4" x 4" on its flat squate base, and stands 12.5" tall.
