An exceptional oval side table from Baker Furniture's celebrated "Stately Homes of England and Scotland Collection" — the company's most prestigious line, founded in 1980 under the guidance of Sir Humphrey Wakefield, English baronet and foremost authority on English antiques and architecture.
This piece is a faithful reproduction of an original at Blenheim Palace, the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage estate of His Grace The Duke of Marlborough — perhaps best known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Each Stately Homes piece is hand-crafted by Baker's master cabinetmakers in Michigan, following old-world techniques to preserve the integrity of the historic original. Bears the original Baker Furniture brass plaque and provenance label on the underside.
The oval top features a beautifully figured flame (crotch) mahogany veneer with a contrasting crossbanded border in rosewood and a delicate satinwood line inlay. Around the perimeter sits an exquisite hand-wrought brass pie-crust gallery — an elaborate, scalloped raised edge that is the hallmark of fine 18th-century English tea and gallery tables.
The deep apron is carved with vertical fluting (ribbed pilaster motif) and accented at each corner with gilt brass rosette mounts. The piece stands on four slender, tapered, fluted legs terminating in brass chaussure feet (bun-form metal caps), echoing the elegance of George III / Sheraton period craftsmanship.
Ideal as a centerpiece in a foyer, drawing room, library, or as a refined occasional / tea table in any traditional or transitional interior. A genuine investment piece with documented provenance from one of England's most celebrated stately homes.
Original Baker Furniture brass tag and Stately Homes provenance label intact. Structurally sound; brass gallery and feet show light tarnish patina; mahogany top retains warm rich color with minor surface marks consistent with age.
