Offering a rare pair of vintage seashell and koi fish sculptures, circa Mid 20th Century. These gorgeous seashell specimens are mounted on top of a Victorian style antique koi fish base. In mythology this fish is a stylized serpentine sea creature rather than an actual mammal. They are made of spelter, which is a zinc and lead alloy that ages like bronze which was popular during the Victorian and Art Deco years.
The seashells are known as a "Tun shell" and are a thin lightweight shell with a broad open mouth and distinct horizontal ridges patterned with small brownish-orange spots.
EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. There are no defects or chips to the shell (Hard to find in this condition). The antique koi fish bases have a dark patina.
