Signed Chavez on verso. … Read more Offering a 1950s Los Castillo style abalone shell, brass and copper fish bowl or wall sculpture. Signed Chavez on verso. This gorgeous mixed metal fish bowl has abalone shell in its tail area as well as in the eye. The brass bowl section has been carved in a "fish tail" pattern. The lovely pinkish copper metal is near the front of the fish and "open" mouth. The underside is completely brass and retains the artist signature. There are three brass feet securely attached to the base for use as a bowl and there is a brass loop for wall hanging if so desired.

We have sold many Mexican Mid 20th Century mixed metal pieces over the years and this particular item is one of our bests. The Mexican silversmithing and the inlaid semi-precious stone is superb craftmanship with incredible sparkling and colorful abalone. Most of these types of items have defects and spaces in the abalone and this item is meticulously crafted. Absolutely fabulous!
