A significant example of Portuguese ceramic artistry, this large-scale lattice basket is hand-woven from high-glaze earthenware ropes to mimic traditional wicker-work. The architectural silhouette is punctuated by an artisanal cluster of hand-painted cherries and a single verdant leaf, offering a sophisticated nod to 19th-century Caldas da Rainha pottery. Its substantial scale makes it an ideal archival centerpiece for a formal dining setting or a curated kitchen island.
Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition. Minor, age-appropriate crazing is localized to the center well. The lattice structure remains structurally sound with no chips or breaks. Minor pigment loss noted on cherry stems.
The Gallery Note: “This curated piece is a storied fragment of design history. As a vintage asset, it possesses a unique character defined by its journey through time. We invite you to examine the high-resolution imagery closely, as it serves as the definitive documentation of provenance and condition.”

The delicate open-lattice ceramic construction appears structurally intact, with no visible breaks or repairs. The applied cherries and leaf retain their original colored glazes, including intentional shading. Light crazing is present in the glazed center, with ordinary underside shelf wear. Unglazed areas underneath appear consistent with original manufacturing characteristics. A partially removed Portugal paper label remains on the underside.
