A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame.

At the centre is a compact vertical block of four rectangles, arranged in a tight grid. The arrangement feels deliberate and balanced, like a coded visual fragment.

The surface surrounding this central form is rich with the history of its previous life. Dark, charcoal-toned book covers dominate the background, with horizontal scuffs, striations, and fading that reveal years of handling and wear. A visible seam across the middle hints at the joining of separate covers, reinforcing the idea of reconstruction.

The binding cloth used in the coloured rectangles subtly contrasts with the rougher ground. The crisp geometry of the central block stands in tension with the imperfect, weathered field.

Boyd distills their physical essence into a minimal composition that speaks of time, use, and renewal—less about what was written, and more about what remains.

The artwork is presented in wood frame that suits it very well. It has been constructed with professional grade adhesive and is shipped with robust fixings, ready to hang. Both artwork and frame are in excellent condition.
