This Murano glass bowl by Archimede Seguso, created in Italy during the 1960s, presents a refined example of the sommerso technique in a compact geode form. Handcrafted in layered glass, a vibrant cerise pink core is suspended within clear crystal, producing a subtle gradient that shifts from saturated ruby tones at the rim to a softer, diffused blush towards the centre. The thickness of the walls enhances this optical depth, giving the piece a sculptural presence despite its modest scale. The bowl’s circular form is defined by a broad, polished rim with crisp edges, contrasting with the smooth curvature of the body. When viewed from different angles, the glass captures and refracts light, emphasising the controlled craftsmanship typical of Seguso’s mid-century production. Suitable as a small centrepiece, vide-poche, or decorative accent, it balances functional use with strong visual impact. Archimede Seguso was among the most respected Murano glassmakers of the twentieth century, known for technical precision and clarity of form. Condition is very good for age and use. There is one tiny nibble to the inner rim and minor surface wear to the polished base, consistent with careful handling over time. Height: 5.5 cm (2.17 in) Diameter: 14.5 cm (5.71 in) This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
